Amazingly enough, I was nominated for a Liebster Award. At first, I was like a what?! A lobster award? Okay, cool I love lobster. No, it is definitely not a lobster award haha. A Liebster Award is an award given by bloggers to bloggers. The basis is on recognizing new bloggers and welcoming them into the community. I have found that the word Liebster has German origin and has several meanings including dearest, sweetest, beloved, lovely, and cute. Yes, I googled the meaning of the word. Either way, this whole Liebster Award sounds quite endearing.
I was nominated by the wonderful Ana from Between The Sea And The Sky a beautiful Lifestyle & Travel blog. Ana so nicely passed on the rules to me for this award and I will attempt to explain them to you.
Liebster Award Rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog. (Personally, I added a trackback as well as we all know those are just loved by Google but it is not necessary.)
- Copy and paste the Liebster Award badge to your post.
- Nominate 10 new bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
- Answer the 10 questions the person who nominated you asked you.
- Create 10 new questions to ask the bloggers you nominate.
- Notify the bloggers you have nominated by leaving them a comment on their blog.
Answers to Ana’s Questions:
1. What made you start your blog?
I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions. Yes, maybe I am a bit opinionated but aren’t all bloggers to some degree? I found I needed an outlet for all that goes through my mind on a daily basis. I get so many thoughts rattling around in my head I just want to share. If no one wants to listen so be it but I still enjoy sharing. Shyness has never been an issue for me as I can pretty much sit down and hold a conversation with anyone of any age. Maybe I’m too chatty but I find it a gift and a curse. A curse because sometimes my friends look at me like “shut up”. A gift because I never meet a stranger or find myself alone. I also love reviewing products and sharing them with my friends and family but they probably get sick of it so enter the blog.
2. What am I most proud of?
Going back to college. It’s something many have done but I am proud to say I’m actually getting the chance to do it again. I want that degree and I’m not ready to give up till I get it.
3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I have always dreamed of visiting Scottland and the beautiful landscapes there. The countryside looks gorgeous and Stonehenge fascinating. I would love to go stay not in hotels but in local areas to get the real feel of life there.
4. Who is your inspiration?
This is a tough question as I’ve had many people inspire me throughout my life. If I have to pick I would say my very first inspiration came from my Grandfather though who I lost early in my life. He was one of those men who never met a stranger. He was kind, caring yet could lead with a firm hand. That type of person who knew everyone wherever we went yet wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. I loved his business savvy and laid back demeanour. Our relationship was very close and I miss him everyday. If only I could have inhereited more of his traits.
5. Do You Prefer Summer or Winter?
From a strict fashion perspective, I love winter for the multitude of possibilities layering provides. I’m also a sucker for booties, boots, and scarves. Now don’t get me wrong Summer has it’s layering possibilities but on a 90° plus day it’s too hot! That said Summer is truly my favorite season of the year…. Hello, the beach! I live in a resort beach town where people come to vacation and enjoy the sand and surf. They also come to enjoy the outlets for the superb fashion finds. A win, win location for me except it is busy come tourist season.
6. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Let us be honest we all have something we probably would change or would like to take a “mulligan” on. The issue with that is would we still be the same us today? So yes I’d like to not date that guy from high school or redo my first time in college. Maybe, even take back a few idiotic things I’ve done in my life. The only thing is I’m afraid without those lessons I’d make the same bleeping mistakes again later in life. So no unless I can keep the lessons I’ve learned I don’t want to change anything. I can’t believe I freakin said that!
7. What is your first memory?
Wow Ana thanks for making me pull the cobwebs out of my brain. Haha!
My first memory is of red garden shoes. My family used to work a garden next to our houses to eat fresh produce out of. I can remember loving these red canvas shoes which I had deemed my “gardening shoes”. They had a shiny red rubber tip on the toe and white rubber around the base. I was around 5 years old or less so my memory could be off a bit now but I do remember little rainbows on both outer sides of the shoes. I would put them on in the mornings and join my grandparents and parents before school and work picking strawberries. Mmm.. I think more hit my stomach then the basket.
8. What is my biggest regret?
My regrets are always with people passing. No matter how much your there it still feels like you could have done more.
9. Do you have a bucket list? What are your top 3?
Yes, I want to visit Scottland, England, and Japan. I could go on forever about a travel bucket list. Anyone willing to fund it?
10. What is the craziest thing I’ve done?
At fifteen, I took flying lessons. I know thinking of me as piloting a plane is scary. It scares me! Of course, it was very expensive so I never got to complete the whole course but I did get to have lots of fun. Flying in the fog, clouds, along the shore, etc. I remember landing at some large airports and taxiing with big planes… yikes! Landing on a runway that ended in water was scary too. The dirt runway was an interesting adventure and totally a bumpy ride. Flying with instruments only is a completely disorienting experience. My favorite of all though was stalling the airplane. It reminded me of a rollercoaster effect with the tummy tingles and all.
Ana really made me put my thinking cap on for those questions. Now I must find 10 nominees for the Liebster Award to pass it on. Take a moment to check out my nominees blogs and questions below.
